The Wayzata baseball team went 1-1 Thursday in section 6AAA tournament play to keep its season and hopes of playing in the state tournament alive.
The Trojans wound up on the wrong side of a 6-4 decision to Bloomington Jefferson on Thursday afternoon. The Jaguars were able to record 11 hits off Trojans ace Billy Soule on its way to the victory. The Jaguars were also aided by a couple of errors by the Trojans in the field as four of the six runs scored by the Jaguars were unearned.
The Trojans bounced back later in the evening for a 9-2 win over Edina in an elimination game. It was the third win in four games for the Trojans against the Hornets this season.
The Trojans are now faced with another elimination game, today at 4:30 p.m. against Bloomington Jefferson at Parade Stadium.
Hopkins is in the driver's seat in the section. One more victory and the Royals will find themselves making plans for next week's state tournament.
If the Trojans beat Jefferson this afternoon it would move on to face Hopkins at 7 p.m. tonight at Parade Stadium. If the Trojans were to win that game, the two teams would play a second game on Saturday.
