Bazany, Karen Marie Beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and respected teacher. Born on September 29, 1959, in Chicago, IL, Karen lost her long and courageous battle with cancer on April 9, 2011, wrapped in the love of family and friends.

Father, Leroy F. Bazany; brother, Mark Bazany; grandmother, Mildred Armstrong preceded Karen in death.

Karen chose teaching as her career path. It was the perfect match as she created a positive learning environment combined with teaching her students compassion and empathy for others. Her love of children and her passion for teaching was obvious to all. Karen taught in the Wayzata School District for 26 years. Her career encompassed teaching Special Education, Grades 1, 2 and 3, and most recently as the Primary Literacy Specialist at Kimberly Lane Elementary School.

Karen's beautiful smile, sparkling eyes and positive outlook on life were contagious. She was a friend to many and will be missed tremendously by all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

Karen is survived by her mother, Frances A. Bazany of Naples, FL.; siblings and their families, Kerry Bazany and children Cory, Kelsey, and Caeley of Elgin, IL, Greg Bazany, wife Patty, and children Elizabeth and Maggie of Chanhassen, MN, Tim Bazany, wife Nancy, and children Melissa and Nick of Howell, MI, Kim Pechous, husband Chuck, and children Charlie, Sam, Will and Grace of Kenosha, WI, Kristin Larsen, husband Greg, and children Grey and Madisyn of Kenosha, WI. Karen also leaves behind her constant and loving companions, her Maltese "girls", Sadie and Emma.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at The Church of St. Bartholomew, 630 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata MN, on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 1:30 PM. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held beginning at 12:00 PM at the church.

Interment, at a later date, will be at St. John the Evangelist Memorial Gardens, Naples, FL.

A special thanks to the many doctors, nurses, medical staff, and friends that have lovingly cared for and walked along with Karen on her 9 year journey with cancer.
