The Wayzata Fire Department responded to a house fire call at 709 East Wayzata Boulevard at around 4:45 am Friday morning. A passerby called Hennepin County dispatch with a report of smoke coming from the home.
Eyewitness Jim Wilson described the situation in an email this morning, "Upon arrival of Wayzata Fire, there was extensive smoke coming from the upper floors of the house. Soon after fire arrived flames started coming from the roof of the house. Fire departments from Wayzata, Plymouth, Minnetonka and Mound (possibly others) helped fight the fire. The fire was knocked down and extinguished after about an hour or so. At 0620 fire fighters were still on the scene mopping up."
Additionally, Long Lake and Golden Valley Fire Departments also responded to the mutual aid call.
Officials on scene indicated that the home had been undergoing some renovations and or painting, however the occupants were not home at the time of the fire. Additionally, there were no injuries reported.
