Bay Bell Battle as Trojans host #8 Minnetonka in football

Your Wayzata Trojans (1-0) will host the #8 ranked Minnetonka Skippers (1-0) tonight in the annual Bay Bell Battle. It’s an annual tradition where the winner of the game holds a traveling trophy.

The Trojans will look to build on their successful offensive effort over Rosemount from last week. Trojan Junior Quarterback Keaton Heide completed 15 passes on 23 attempts and 1 touchdown last week. Tight End Billy Riviere caught 5 passes for 47 yards and a TD, while Charles Engdahl and Brody Bjork each caught 3 passes for 38 and 43 yards respectively.

In the rushing attack against Rosemount, Deshawn Cockrell carried 16 times for 154 yards and a TD, while Alec Underhill rushed 11 times for 75 yards and a TD.

Defensively, the Trojans bent but didn’t break with a key stop in the 4th quarter as the Irish were threatening. As part of the effort, Cade Ciarrocca caught an interception Rosemount QB Max Carter.

Minnetonka junior Aaron Syverson scored two rushing touchdowns and threw for a third in a victory over Eagan last week. Other players to watch for included running backs Adam Livingston and Tamar Hopkins, as well as receiver Owen Freese.

The Trojans will also have to pay attention to Skipper kick returner Daniel Viger who gained 87 yards and a TD against Eagan.
