OPINION: Plechash is a Proven Leader

I am writing this letter in support of Alex Plechash for Wayzata City Council. I first met Alex many years after his graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy, his service as a Marine Corps pilot during which he earned the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and his entry into the business world, where he became a successful private sector professional.

Our first meeting was about ten years ago, when we were both community volunteers. Over the intervening years, what I have learned about Alex is that he is a principled, conscientious man, who thoughtfully spends time seeking out organizations where his experience is needed and his leadership skills will help them meet their goals.

Alex is motivated by a genuine desire to serve – he has never used a Board position simply to develop his resume. He has spent many years on the Wayzata Fire Department – helping to save lives and homes in our community. He has also served many years as an advisor for young military recruits, and countless hours have been devoted to military families and their wounded warriors. His two terms as Board Member for the Perpich School expanded his experience to the education community – dealing with its finances, student performance issues, and family involvement.

Alex is an experienced leader who is a straight talker, who is not afraid to ask questions, and who has learned to work smart. He also listens, with a sense of humility, in order to solicit input from others in the solution of problems.

The Wayzata Community is very fortunate to have a candidate like Alex Plechash running for its City Council.
