2014 City of Wayzata Volunteer "Pull It Day" a success

Twenty-nine civic minded community volunteers gathered at the Wayzata Public Works building early morning on Saturday October 18th to participate in Pull It Day, the City of Wayzata's Volunteer Program to remove annual flowers from City owned flower beds around town.  The event is held annually, and mirrors a planting day held by the same group in the spring, in addition to an Adopt a Garden program that runs through the summer.

The Volunteer Program was started in 2009 as budget constraints caused the City of Wayzata to seek new ways to meet staffing requirements.  Other arms of the volunteers include staffing for administrative tasks, Big Woods maintenance, and programming for seniors within the community.

The group completed the herculean task of removing flowers from City owned flower beds in record time this year, according to Pat Broyles, Co-Chair of the Garden Initiative group.  For more information on how to particpate in the Volunteer Program, visit this webpage at the City of Wayzata.
