9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

On September 11th the Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce and the Wayzata Rotary Club will host a “Remembrance Ceremony” on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 to pay tribute to soldiers, veterans, police and firemen.  The ceremony is part of the Chamber’s 37th Annual James J. Hill Days celebration Stars N’ Stripes, The All-American Get Together.

All veterans, current military personnel and first responders are invited to take part in the remembrance.  There be a performance by the 451st Army Band and remarks by Wayzata Mayor Ken Willcox.  It will take place at 2:00 p.m. at 747 Mill Street, in front of the Wayzata Bar & Grill immediately following the James J. Hill Days parade.  It is also the site of the Wayzata Rotary’s Annual Car Show.

Wayzata Chamber President Peggy Douglas said that “we are delighted that the 451st Army Band will lead the parade and perform at the remembrance ceremony.  Our James J. Hill Days committee was adamant about honoring our “everyday heroes” when they chose the theme “Stars N’ Stripes” for this year.  We are fortunate that Wayzata Chamber and Rotary member Robert Shadley, a retired major general, was able to get the military band for this special tribute”.

For a schedule of all the James J. Hill Days activities go to or call the chamber office at 952-473-9595.
