9/11 Alert from Wayzata Police Chief Mike Risvold

As we remember the events and honor the heroes of 9/11/01 over the course of this weekend, we ask that you remain vigilant to suspicious activity, people, or objects.  The latest intelligence from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI is that there is no known credible threat at this time.  Having said that, DHS asks us to remind our communities of the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

I’d also like to invite all to two weekend events in Wayzata.  First, the annual Wayzata Police vs. Wayzata Fire softball game is tonight at Klapprich Park.  First pitch is at 6:00 PM.  Second, there will be a 9/11 “Wayzata Remembers” ceremony to honor the heroes of 9/11 and first responders in and around Wayzata.  This event will take place after the parade (approximately 2:00 PM) on Sunday on Mill Street in front of the Muni.  The 451st Army Band out of Ft. Snelling will be on hand and Mayor Willcox will address the crowd.  The ceremony should last 20-30 minutes.  Enjoy the weather and have a safe weekend!
