OBITUARY: John C. Greiber

Greiber, John C. John Greiber, former Ameriprise Financial executive, died on June 21, 2011, after a tenacious two- year battle with cancer. He was 49 years old.

John was born on March 20, 1962, in Sauk City, Wis. A 1984 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he joined Ameriprise in 1987 and quickly rose through the leadership ranks.

In 2007, he reached the pinnacle of his career as Region Vice President, leading 1,500 financial advisors throughout a nine-state area. Earlier this year he became one of only 150 people in the past century who have been inducted into the Ameriprise Hall of Fame.

Well-respected for his career successes, John's most coveted roles were that of husband to his wife of 20 years, Tami, and father to children Ryan, Ellie and Ben. With them he shared his passions for travel and sports, especially baseball.

In recent years John formed a nonprofit that raised money for countless causes. He always strove to help others find their true calling, believing that "failure is one more step to success."

In addition to his wife and children, John is survived by his mother, Geraldine "Gerry" Greiber; brothers, Bob (Becky) Greiber and Jim (Mary Kay) Greiber; sister, Nancy Walker; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Greiber, and brother, Tom Greiber.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family starting at 9:30 AM with a service in honor of John's life to be held at 11 AM on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2060 6th Ave. N., Long Lake, followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be donated to charities that were meaningful to John. Memorials may be directed to 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata, Minn., 55391.
