OBITUARY: Walter P. Herbst

Herbst, Walter Paul age 98.

Born September 25, 1912 in Yetter, Iowa, passed away April 6, 2011.

Preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Bernice and by daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Herbst.

Survived by his wife, Harriet Jones; Bernice’s 5 sons, Robert (Evie), Walter (Joaunne), Adrian (Barbara), Tom (Michon), Norman(special friend Michaela); 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Walter worked for the post office for 37 years and achieved the position of supervisor of a branch office. He was molded with a Christian upbringing, his father was a Lutheran minister. The bible was important to him to his last day. Walter fulfilled his obligation as a husband and father.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff and nurses at Wellstead of Rogers as well as special nurse, Nicolle and hospice nurse, Lou. The family is very grateful for the kindness shown by Pastor Chris from Maple Grove Lutheran Church.

Funeral service 11 AM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Maple Grove Lutheran Church, 9251 Elm Creek Boulevard, Maple Grove. Visitation 5:30-7:30 PM Wednesday at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata and one hour prior to the service at church.

Interment Sunset Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
