Good morning Wayzata, and thanks for joining Wayzata.com for the Top 5 Stories of the week. Find out what the City will be doing about sandwich board signs, the accomplishments of the WHS theater program and how community residents are contributing to beautify the community. Also, find out about an experimental intersection closure coming next month and how a fundraiser benefited the American Diabetes Association.

Here we go again, the Top 5 stories of the week:

  1. The City of Wayzata is cracking down on sandwich board signs after recognizing a number of signs were violating a city ordinance. This includes the 'Wayzata singles' signs we have all seen around town.

  2. Congratulations to the Wayzata High School theatre students who have been selected to perform at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Only 64 schools out of 1,500 from the U.S. were selected to perform at the festival in August.

  3. The City's effort to keep the community beautiful while sticking to a tight budget has been successful thanks to the community's response to the Adopt-A-Garden program. Several residents made a generous contribution to the community by adopting a garden for the summer.

  4. The City Council decided upon an experimental closure of the Arlington Circle/Lake Street intersection to see if the closure would relieve cut-through traffic and speed issues. The closure will begin July 6 and go through July 27.

  5. The Wine on Wayzata Bay event held Friday, June 12 raised around $35,000 to benefit the American Diabetes Association. During the nine years the Wayzata Yacht Club has partnered with the ADA, over a quarter million dollars has been raised.
