Wayzata High School's National Honor Society to Hold Blood Drive Friday, May 22

The National Honor Society at Wayzata High School will be hosting a blood drive to benefit Memorial Blood Centers on Friday, May 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the auditorium foyer. This marks the National Honor Society's third blood drive this year.

Wayzata High School typically gets an award every year for collecting the most units of blood for any metro high school, according to National Honor Society Advisor Leslie Swiggum.

The blood drive is primarily for students, however, a few staff participate. A photo ID is required for those who wish to donate.

Memorial Blood Centers is a nonprofit community blood center that serves more than 30 hospitals in the Twin Cities metro area, northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, according to their Web site. They collect more than 125,000 units of blood a year. For more information on what to expect when donating blood, visit www.memorialbloodcenters.org.
