WAYZATA BOY'S TENNIS 2009: Trojans Advance to State

By Matt Thomas, Sports Reporter

The Wayzata boy's tennis team will make a return trip to the state tournament this spring after defeating Mankato West and Minnetonka on Tuesday morning in section 2AA play at Gustavus Adolphus College.

The Trojans had no trouble disposing of Mankato West by a score of 7-0, but had to scratch out a close 4-3 victory over Minnetonka to earn its way into the state tournament.

The state tournament will be held June 2 and 3 at the Baseline Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.

This week, members of the team will look to qualify individually for the state tournament in the individual portion of the section tournament. Those matches will be played on Friday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 26.
