Wayzata Bay Redevelopment Company to Purchase Superior Stop

The Wayzata Bay Redevelopment Company signed a letter of intent in early May to acquire Superior Stop gas station, 800 Lake St.

The relocation of Superior Boulevard and the reconfiguration of the intersection at Lake Street and Superior Boulevard requires the station to be demolished to accommodate the redevelopment of the Wayzata Bay Center, according to Ed Briesemeister, managing director of Wayzata Bay Redevelopment Company.

The City could have demolished Superior Stop by condemnation, but it is easier for everyone involved to acquire the property privately and to work out the details, Briesemeister said.

If all the details are worked out successfully, the purchase agreement will likely to be signed by Aug. 1.
