2007 Graduate Pitches Gem For Concordia-St. Paul

By Matt Thomas, Sports Reporter

2007 Wayzata High School graduate Nick Anderson is a member of the University of Concordia-St. Paul baseball team. Anderson—a sophomore for the Golden Bears—recently pitched the best game of his collegiate career on Sunday, May 3.

In a 6-0 Golden Bears victory over Winona State, Anderson threw seven shutout innings while allowing only three hits and striking out six. It was Anderson's first career shutout and helped the Golden Bears move to 35-18 on the season.

Anderson has been used as both a starter and a reliever this year for the Golden Bears. He has pitched 44 2/3 innings while appearing in 15 games, including seven starts. His earned run average isn't anything to write home about at 5.84, but his 7-2 record ties him for the team lead in wins.

Anderson has 37 strikeouts for the season compared to only 24 walks and opposing batters are hitting .283 against him.

In high school, Anderson was a two-time letter winner for the Trojans and was named All-Conference in 2006.
