The Wayzata baseball team will look to remain above the .500 mark today in its regular season finale against Grand Rapids.
The Trojans snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with an 11-4 victory over Robbinsdale Armstrong to improve to 10-9 overall this season.
The victory secured at least a share of the Classic Lake Conference title for the Trojans, who finished the conference season with a mark of 8-4. The Hopkins Royals can gain a share of the conference crown this afternoon with a victory over Edina.
The Trojans pounded out 14 hits and got seven solid innings on the mound from junior Troy Beckman in the seven-run victory over Armstrong on Wednesday.
Beckman scattered ten hits and allowed only two earned runs to pick up his second victory of the season. The junior also contributed offensively by going 1-for-4 with three RBI’s in the game.
Senior Lucas Steinbach continued his recent hot streak by going 2-for-4 with two RBI’s, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Seniors Caleb Reesnes and Collin Coats each had two hits and an RBI in the game. Junior Zack Trygstad added a two-run double in the victory.
After today’s game against Grand Rapids, the Trojans will have five days to practice and rest before play begins in section 6AAA on Thursday, May 21.
