Another busy week in Wayzata as the temperatures over the weekend allowed people to come out of hiding and get outside for snowmobiling, fishing, running, dog walking and more.

Local students raised money for drinking water a world away, a local investment firm continues to make headlines, and Tom Petters continues to make headlines. Here we go, the Top 5 Stories of the week:

  2. Every time I open the Strib there is another Tom Petters headline. This time around, it reads: The Tom Petters saga continues as Dean Vlahos asserts that Petters owes him $16,000,000.
  3. It only took 8 years, but the Lakeshore Weekly News finally had positive feedback on blogs and Wayzata.com. Reporter David Schueller gives his two cents.
  4. In sports, the Wayzata Boys Hockey team dropped a thriller to Minnetonka in overtime. Wayzata Boys Basketball seniors Jamar Franks and DeShawn Thurman scored career highs on Friday night as the Trojans erased a five point halftime deficit by scoring 53 points in the second half against Minnetonka. In girls basketball, Senior guard Kate Thompson led the way for the Trojans with 19 points, while senior guard Alexa Clausen added 10 with a victory over Armstrong.
  5. Even though it hasn’t been reported previously, the rumors swirling around town are that the Muni may relocate temporarily in the old Cosi location (631 Lake St E) to allow the City Council more time to make a decision as the Bay Center threatens to be torn down at the end of this year. This still would not address where the bottle shop would go. Watch for this discussion at the Wayzata City Council meeting on Tuesday.
