Matt Thomas, Sports Reporter Biography

Matt Thomas, a veteran high school sports writer in the Twin Cities area, will be covering Trojans’ athletics for Wayzata.com. Matt is currently Media Relations Manager at his alma mater, Gustavus Adolphus College, in St. Peter, Minn. He is also currently freelancing for the U.S. Olympic Committee’s website, http://www.teamusa.org/.

Matt spent six years at the Lakeshore Weekly News, covering high school sports for numerous high schools including Wayzata, Orono, Minnetonka, Hopkins, and Robbinsdale Armstrong. Matt was the first full-time sports reporter to be hired at the Lakeshore Weekly News and helped to increase the paper’s readership by developing a respected sports section.

Matt also spent a year and a half working for Lillie Suburban Newspapers where he covered high school sports for North St. Paul, Tartan, and Hill-Murray high schools. Matt’s work has also appeared in Minnesota Basketball News and on http://www.varsityonline.com/.
