WAYZATA BOYS HOCKEY 2009: #8 Minnetonka vs. #10 Wayzata

by Matt Thomas, Wayzata.com Sports Reporter

The Wayzata boys hockey team has had a week to sit and think about its worst loss of the season. Tonight the Trojans will look to forget about last Thursday’s 5-0 loss to third ranked Edina, when they go on the road to face the eighth ranked Minnetonka Skippers at the Pagel Ice Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. tonight.

The Trojans had won ten straight games heading into last week, but losses to Burnsville (5-4) and Edina last week mean that the Trojans will have to win tonight to avoid a three game losing streak.

The Skippers have won five straight heading into tonight’s game including impressive conference victories over Hopkins (7-0) and Armstrong (5-2).

Here are the top performers for both teams:

Wayzata
Sr. Billy Soule: 6 goals, 12 assists
Sr. Kevin Blackley: 6 goals, 11 assists
Sr. Matt Straate: 7 goals, 9 assists
Jr. Danny Walsh: 10 goals, 5 assists
Jr. Scott Holm: 6 goals, 9 assists

Minnetonka
Jr. Max Gardiner: 14 goals, 18 assists
Sr. Sam Coatta: 14 goals, 9 assists
Jr. Andrew Prochno: 7 goals, 15 assists
So. Thomas Schutt: 7 goals, 9 assists
Jr. Troy Hesketh: 4 goals, 9 assists
