Bushaway Road in Wayzata, MN celebrates 150 years.

Bushaway Road has been in the news for a number of reasons lately. There was a house fire on Bushaway that involved Virginia Piper's old house. Tom Petters estate home is located at 655 Bushaway Road in Wayzata, MN and it overlooks Lake Minntonka. Hennepin County is also slated to do some massive construction on Bushaway Road to make it wider and bigger, however there is substantial resistance to that effort in the Wayzata community. A burst water main on Bushaway also closed the road this week. Yes Bushaway has been in the headlines a lot lately.

None of these things is as important as the 150th Anniversary of Bushaway Road. There was a large gathering at Wayzata City Hall last Saturday to Celebrate the 150th birthday of Bushaway Road in Wayzata, MN 55391. The City of Wayzata's Citizen of the Year Irene Stemmer was there, according to an article in the Sun Sailor that was published Thursday.

The Birthday celebration for the road comes as a result of Hennepin County's plans to widen it--as local residents started to dig into the history of the road they discovered it is 150 years old. Happy Birthday Bushaway, here's to another 150!

Stay tuned to Wayzata.com for all the latest news on the Bushaway Battle between local residents and Hennepin County.
