Weekly Roundup: Wayzata.com's top stories of the week, Oct. 13-19

It was another huge week in Wayzata as we celebrated some major accomplishments of a national politician, the football team went undefeated in the regular season, and a proposed affordable housing development ruffled some feathers in town. So here again, are the top Top 5 stories from Wayzata for the week of October 13th - 19th, 2008.

  1. Jim Ramstad honored as 2008 Wayzata Person of the Year by Wayzata Chamber of Commerce - What do Greg Rye, Peggy Douglass, George W. Bush, Tim Pawlenty, and Jim Ramstad all have in common? They all participated in one form or another in celebrating Ramstad as the 2008 Wayzata Chamber Person of the Year.
  2. The Wayzata Football Trojans completed their regular season schedule by beating Edina last Wednesday. The team went 8-0 during the regular season, and are poised to make a deep run into the playoffs.   3. Wayzata School Board approves amendment to open enrollment recommendations - District #284 closed open enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year. Read all about it at the link above.
  4. Part of the Wayzata Bay Center redevelopment that provides funds for affordable housing has residents of the Benton Neighborhood disagreeing with IOCP's selection of a site. IOCP & CommonBond Communities seek to develop affordable housing with Bay Center funds
  5. The Wayzata City Council met in a special closed session to discuss options for securing the property located at 800 Superior Street whether by condemnation or by voluntary sale. Mayor Humphrey and Councilman Willcox had no comment when asked about it. Wayzata City Council to hold Closed Meeting
